Susan has endeavoured to positively impact the quality of life of others as far back as she can remember.
She has been fortunate that every step of her career has allowed her to do this – whether delivering hands on patient care, undertaking clinical research to improve patient services, ensuring product was where is should be at the right time or recruiting the key individuals needed to develop, register, manufacture and market products.
Combine the above with her approach to life and you start to get a broader picture of what makes her tick. Susan’s desire to learn and develop both herself and others and to not look back and think “what if” resonates with her passion for healthcare and wellness.
Susan’s career to date has seen a nursing graduate from Glasgow transition to the pharmaceutical industry where she spent 17 years working for ethical and generic global life sciences companies. This was followed by 10 years with a global boutique life sciences executive search company that saw her move between Europe and Asia, setting up their JV in China then heading their Asian business from Singapore, before returning to Europe to manage relationships with key global clients. Not a conventional path – but, still, one she recommends!
In mid-2015, Susan took a career sabbatical to spend quality time with family and friends, as well as ‘investing’ in her core interests and hobbies: running, scuba diving, yoga, learning and exploring the amazing world we live in. Highlights from these travels included teaching English to Indonesian primary school children whilst participating in a conservation scuba diving project in Raja Ampat and studying, practicing and completing yoga teacher training in India.
With Macdonald Lewis Associates, Susan looks forward to working with our associates to support candidates and clients who are also passionate about making a difference, embracing new technologies and opportunities, and putting patients at the centre of their endeavours.
